Hey running peeps! Check out our new class, Ride-n-Run. This workout is called a “Brick Run” You start with a 30 minute ride (inside for our class), swap your shoes & head out for a 30 minute walk or run. Spartan Spin is just 1/4 mile from Delta Township’s Sharp Park (sidewalks connect our facility to the park) The plan is to run/walk to the park; when you hit the 15 minute mark of your walk/run you head back to the studio. Special thanks to run & spin coach Ron Womboldt for this great idea!

Try Something New!

When’s the last time you tried something new? Here’s your chance. Spartan Spin will be offering a new class called Rythym Ride on Saturday April 17th & 24th from 9:30-10:15. Maria Hostetler and Dani Fluegeman, local instructors, will be guest teaching for us. The ride is less like an outside ride and more like a dance party on your bike. Expect to move to the music with fun choreography. Come check it out!

Fitness Goals

At Spartan Spin our goal is help you achieve your fitness goals. The average 45 minute indoor cycling class burns an average of 450 calories! If your goal is to shed some weight,  you are in the right place. The current exercise guidelines for adults recommend 150 minutes of vigorous exercise per week (That would be the equivalent of 3 or 4, 45 minutes classes/week).

Is that all it takes to lose weight? Not for most of us.  We are all unique.  Some of you may lose weight by adding exercise to your routine.   Most of us will also need to improve our food choices.  Think of what you eat as fuel for your body.

I  recommend  two tips regarding diet:  One, complete a food diary for at least a week.  Tracking what you eat allows you see where to make small changes. Sometimes some small changes can make a big difference.  My second recommendation is doing meal prep.  You can find all kinds of meal prep ideas online.   This allows you to have healthy food options available when you’re hungry and short on time during the week.

Also, find an accountability partner.  Do you have a friend with similar goals?  Team up to share meal ideas.  Send each other your food diary at the end of the day.  Text each other when you workout.  Or, hey workout together!  The support helps!!

Remember: Fitness is a journey.  There will be times when life gets in the way of your fitness routine.  That’s OK.  If you are consistent with your diet and exercise you will “Move the Needle” toward improved health goals.  You can do it!  Questions or feedback?  Please reach out to me at

Reflections on Valentine’s Week

Happy Heart Month & Happy Valentines Week.

This week marks 2 months for Spartan Spin.  Thank you to everyone who has visited the studio.  You are my why.  You are what make my dream possible.  I’ve made new friends, encountered challenges I never expected and learned so much about business and myself.  I am beyond grateful for this opportunity.

This gig is fun, exhausting, exciting and a work in progress…. and I love it.  See there, the tie in to Valentine’s week 🙂

I also love to ride. It helps keep me healthy and connects me to all of you.  I love the positive energy you bring to the studio.  It’s contagious-In such a good way. Valentine’s day for me isn’t about any one person.  It’s about being able to share what I love.

Hey crew,  2018 is in the books!  Thank you to each of you who helped me get Spartan Spin up and running.  So many peeps helped with the vision, the renovation of the space, bike maintenance, social media, and loads & loads of moral support.  I wouldn’t be here with out you!!

Hard to believe 2019 is here!!  A clean slate -365 days to fill with family, fun and new adventures.  For me that means using Spartan Spin as a place to move our fitness forward–to combine fitness & fun for life!!  We can do it.  Let’s work as a team to keep each other on track with our fitness goals.  One day at a time.  Today is a rest day-yahoo!!  Rest is key to staying healthy.  Tomorrow, I’ll be ready to roll…ha-did you see what I did there 🙂

We Got This!!

The Journey Begins

Hey y’all I have exciting news!  I am opening an indoor cycling studio in Delta Township.  If you know me, you know that running was my “thing”.  I loved it, it kept me sane and also kept me in shape.  Knee issues have limited (mostly eliminated) my running– so I transitioned to spinning, or indoor cycling.  It wasn’t love at first site.  It was harder than running for me and figuring out the bike took a little bit. BUT,  after 3-4 rides I got the hang of it and, well, now I’m all in. I liked taking classes so much I became certified as a SPIN instructor in May, 2017.  Group indoor cycling brings you together with friends in much the same way as running. A good workout, great music and good friends.  What’s not to love.

Come check it out.  I’m hoping to be open by early December.
